It’s always a great experience for Hamble School of Yachting students to assist the Maritime and Coastguard Agency helicopter with training exercises and that’s exactly what our RYA Day Skipper group has been doing this week on the Solent.

Hamble School of Yachting Principal Chris Rushton says: “Taking part in a training exercise such as this is of great benefit to all those involved.

“The helicopter transfer is used to evacuate crew from yachts in an emergency; being able to turn what is normally a theoretical topic in to a practical demonstration really does emphasise the importance of hands on training.”
